Ahead of APC Campaign rally today in Bekwarra Local Gov’t Area, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has received scores of prominent opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Members/Supporter’s in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State, including the ward chairman of Beten. The defectors  Mr. Mathew Oko, Peter Odama, Mrs Angela Oko, Godwin Achoda Bisong, Cecilia Odey, Samuel Okpodu, Ekunke Igbagri, others,   were received by Hon.(Prince) Edward Ajang, the Candidate of the party cum Member representing Bekwarra state constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly. They also said that they joined APC sequel to the ”visible performances of Hon. Eddy the APC Legislator and other political appointees.   VIDEO  A Zambian man identified as Martin Stampa reportedly collapsed after discovering his wife is his “landlord.” Local news platforms reported that Stampa lived in the house for 15 years, and was paying 3500 kwacha every month. Cross River Bakers Increases Price Of Bread, Reduce Production

Bakers in Cross River have resolved to increase the price of bread and reduce production following the high cost of condiments and other means of production. This was disclosed by a Master Baker,  Mr Thomas Odey  in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Calabar. It would be recalled that bakers in the state had made several complaints following the high cost of condiments for bread and other confectionary production. Odey said the Cross River master bakers did not join the national body in their two weeks withdrawal of service but resolved to increase price and reduce the quantity of production to prevent wastage. C’River Bans Hawking Along Major Highways In Calabar

The Cross River State government on Thursday banned the hawking of corn and various wares on major highways, especially the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar.   Read also:  (VIDEO), CCTV footage captures moments a police officer was having sex with a female prisoner, WACTH HERE   Sex Video Of Nigerian Senator Leaks Online. (Watch Video) The ban was contained in a statement signed by Mr Tony Adinye, Chairman, Cross River Pollution Control Agency.   The chairman said the agency noticed with displeasure, the unwholesome activities of hawkers of various wares, especially corn sellers along the Murtala Mohammed Highway and major streets in the Calabar metropolis.   Adinye said in a bid to urgently sanitise the metropolis of every form of environmental pollution and bring decency to the aesthetic of the state, hawkers and corn sellers had been instructed to relocate to interior streets on or before August 1.   He warned that failure to comply would be met with arrest and severe sanctions.

Senate2023: Ayade emerges APC candidate for Cross River North.

Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade, Thursday emerged candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC for Cross River North Senatorial District. He was elected at a primary by-election conducted at Ogoja local government headquarters. Ayade emerged unopposed as he was the sole contestant in the exercise. The by-election was necessitated by the voluntary withdrawal of Hon. Martin Orim who had won the ticket in the initial exercise held on May 28, 2022. The Chairperson of the APC Primary Election Committee for Cross River North, Barrister Sameera Tabo, declared the governor winner with 252 votes. The total number of votes cast was 255 while three votes were invalidated. According to Sameera, following Orim's withdrawal, the senatorial by- primary election was to ensure that the party fielded a candidate for Northern Cross River under the provisions of the Electoral Act. A 32-seater toilet facility built for the residents of Ampabame No-1 in the Ashanti Region of Ghana remains closed because a  river god is demanding 5 human beings to be sacrificed before it can allow its commissioning. According to a priestess serving the Tano gods, guardians of the Bomofia stream which is close to the toilet facility, the deity is not happy with the constant dumping of refuse in the water body, hence the demand for a human to be sacrificed. The said gods are also allegedly not enthused about the siting of the self-help toilet. The construction of the toilet facility located in the Atwima Kwanwoma district started in 2005, but due to financial constraints, it was completed 15-years later. BREAKING: OPEC Secretary General, Barkindo, Is Dead

Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, is dead. He died about 11pm on Tuesday. His death was announced in the early hours of Wednesday by NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari. Kyari tweeted, “We lost our esteemed Dr Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo. He died at about 11pm yesterday 5th July 2022. Certainly a great loss to his immediate family, the NNPC, our country Nigeria, the OPEC and the global energy community. Burial arrangements will be announced shortly.” Barkindo was on Tuesday described by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as a worthy ambassador of the country, when he received him at the State House. Barkindo’s tenure as OPEC Secretary General comes to an end on July 31.

A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Henry Longs, is dead. Akelicious gathered that Longs, who represented Pankshin South State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, died in Jos on Sunday evening after an operation. The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Philip Dasun, confirmed Longs’ death to our correspondent on Sunday. Dasun said, “It’s true we lost one of our members this evening. The lawmaker representing Pankshin South State Constituency, Henry Longs. “He had a problem in one of his legs and had gone for surgical operation. Unfortunately, he could not make it. His death is really very sad and we will miss him.”

Commercial Drivers suspend planned N100 fare hike in Calabar.

Unified Commercial Drivers Association (UCDA) in Cross River has suspended its planned fare hike in Calabar. This is contained in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting in Calabar on Monday night. The communiqué was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on  Monday night. The communiqué was signed by Mr Uqua Edet, Commissioner for Transport and Marine Services in the state, and Mr Thomas Okon, Chairman, UCDA. Others who signed the communiqué, include Mr Gabriel Ada, Chairman Commercial Transport Regulatory Agency (CTRA), and Mr Ephraim Ekporoko, Chairman Mini Bus Association, after stakeholders meeting in Calabar. NAN recalls that commercial drivers in the state had, in a statement, said that from Monday, Nov. 22, they would increase the cost of a drop in Calabar from N50 to N100. Minister of finance, budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed The federal government of Nigeria is mulling plans to replace the controversial petrol subsidy scheme with an N5,000 monthly transportation grant to the poorest Nigerians. According to Zainab Ahmed, minister of finance, budget and national planning, the grant will go to about 30 to 40 million Nigerians who make up the poorest population of the country which will depend on the resources available after the removal of the fuel subsidy. “The subsidies regime in the oil sector remains unsustainable and economically disingenuous,” she said at the launch of the World Bank Nigeria Development Update (NDU) on Tuesday. She added, “Ahead of the target date of mid-2022 for the complete elimination of fuel subsidies, we are working with our partners on measures to cushion the potential negative impact of the removal of the subsidies on the most vulnerable at the bottom 40percent of the population.” The petrol subsidy has cost Nigeria
