Ahead of APC Campaign rally today in Bekwarra Local Gov’t Area, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has received scores of prominent opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Members/Supporter’s in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State, including the ward chairman of Beten. The defectors  Mr. Mathew Oko, Peter Odama, Mrs Angela Oko, Godwin Achoda Bisong, Cecilia Odey, Samuel Okpodu, Ekunke Igbagri, others,   were received by Hon.(Prince) Edward Ajang, the Candidate of the party cum Member representing Bekwarra state constituency in the Cross River House of Assembly. They also said that they joined APC sequel to the ”visible performances of Hon. Eddy the APC Legislator and other political appointees. They commended APC for fielding credible candidates for the 2023 General Elections.

 ALERT: Beware of 'poisonous ponmo' in Lagos market The federal government says it is proposing legislation to ban the consumption of animal skin, locally known as ponmo, in the country to revive tanneries. Muhammad Yakubu, director-general, Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology ( NILEST ), Zaria, said this in  Abuja  on Sunday. Yakubu said the litigation was necessary to revive the comatose leather industry in the country. He said the habit of eating animal skin, which has no nutritional value, should be stopped to save the industry and boost the nation’s economy. Beware Of Garri Made In Ugep, Cross River State - Cassava Growers Association Strongly Warns.

The Cassava Growers Association in Cross River State has strongly cautioned consumers to beware of Garri made in Ugep part of the state and consumed largely in Southern Nigeria. Chairman of the association Augustine Oqua warned that the lives of residents may be in danger over the sharp practices by producers of Garri. Garri, a by-product of cassava is considered too dangerous for consumption and poisonous as it contains cyanide when not processed properly. In an interview, Oqua explained that those who process the cassava in Ugep, a town in Yakurr LGA of the state, are always in haste to make money and do not allow the plant to properly ferment when immersed in water. “I want to caution residents of the state and Nigerians generally to beware of the Ugep garri. “Ugep garri contains a heavy dose of cyanide, which is not very good for the body system. “The processors don’t allow it to ferment enough before they fry it into garri.
