A mother-of-two, identified as Mrs. Blessing Eno, has been arrested by the police in Cross River State for allegedly beheadding her 11-month-old son in the Yonen community of Ugep, Yakurr LGA of the state. The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, November 29. Vanguard reports that the suspect, who may be suffering from Schizophrenia (Mental Disorder), took out a matchet and cut  off the head of the baby, claiming that the child was disturbing her and a spirit instructed her to slaughter the boy. C’River Bans Hawking Along Major Highways In Calabar

(Watch Video) The ban was contained in a statement signed by Mr Tony Adinye, Chairman, Cross River Pollution Control Agency.   The chairman said the agency noticed with displeasure, the unwholesome activities of hawkers of various wares, especially corn sellers along the Murtala Mohammed Highway and major streets in the Calabar metropolis.   Adinye said in a bid to urgently sanitise the metropolis of every form of environmental pollution and bring decency to the aesthetic of the state, hawkers and corn sellers had been instructed to relocate to interior streets on or before August 1.   He warned that failure to comply would be met with arrest and severe sanctions.

The policemen, who were on special duty from Kano State, were killed on Wednesday. Police spokesman Gambo Isah confirmed the attack, adding that investigation was ongoing He said, “The terrorists were well over 300 and fully armed. The five policemen were from Kano state and were on special duty at Gatikawa” ”The terrorists attacked them at 6.45pm and also killed three civilians. Investigation is already in progress on the matter.” Local sources said the gunmen stormed the village “on motorcycles and went from one house to the other and carting away valuables including money and food items. Many villagers suffered multiple injuries when they attempted to escape from the terrorists”. It was also said that many residents have fled the community in fear.
