A mother-of-two, identified as Mrs. Blessing Eno, has been arrested by the police in Cross River State for allegedly beheadding her 11-month-old son in the Yonen community of Ugep, Yakurr LGA of the state. The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, November 29. Vanguard reports that the suspect, who may be suffering from Schizophrenia (Mental Disorder), took out a matchet and cut  off the head of the baby, claiming that the child was disturbing her and a spirit instructed her to slaughter the boy. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) is set to sign the amended National Health Insurance Scheme (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill into law, according to the Chairman, the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe. Oloriegbe said this on Friday in Abuja during the Universal Health Coverage summit adding that the House of Representatives will pass the bill in the coming week. He said, “The president is willing to sign it into law now. The House of Representatives will pass it next week. It will then be transmitted to President Buhari for assent in the next few days. The president is committed to getting the NHIS bill passed.” The senator, who represents Kwara Central Senatorial district, noted that it would be the first time a bill will make health insurance mandatory for all Nigerians, with the hopes of achieving universal health coverage in Nigeria. The microblogging platform explained that all unauthorised use of copyrighted materials were infringement. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Beyonce Knowles Twitter said a post by Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been withheld, following complaints by copyright owner Beyonce Knowles. The microblogging site said the March 8 tweet violated the American singer’s copyright. Mr Osinbajo had posted a video tweet featuring Beyonce’s song ‘Run the World’ to mark the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration. The tweet, however, did not attribute it’s content to Beyonce, thereby violating twitter’s copyright regulations. Panic In Lagos Community As Gas Explodes Inside Filling Station

There is currently panic around Church Bus-stop, Alagbole, Lagos State, after gas exploded inside an abandoned filling station in the area on Friday. The explosion, it was gathered, occurred shortly after mid-day as some persons evacuated gas cylinders and other equipment from the unused facility. The situation has left the entire place filled with smoke billowing from the scene of the explosion while residents ran in various directions to ensure they and their loved ones were safe. A resident of the area, who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters disclosed that emergency workers were yet to arrive at the scene of the explosion. Just In! NLC releases dates for Mother of All protests against fuel subsidy removal

Rising up from an urgent meeting in Abuja on Friday, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has fixed January 27 and February 1, 2022 for massive protests nationwide against Federal Government’s plan to remove fuel subsidy. A communique issued at the end of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting was signed by the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja. The communique said NEC, therefore, resolved to reject and resist the planned increase in the pump price of petrol by the Federal Government as it described it as extremely insensitive to the acute hardship being experienced by Nigerian workers and people. The body stated that the should rather promote local capacity to refine petroleum products for domestic use rather than importation. The NLC said pursuant to its rejection and resistance of further increase in the price of petrol, it would organise protest rallies in all the 36 states of the federation on January 27, 2022.
