A mother-of-two, identified as Mrs. Blessing Eno, has been arrested by the police in Cross River State for allegedly beheadding her 11-month-old son in the Yonen community of Ugep, Yakurr LGA of the state. The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, November 29. COVID: UK BANS FOREIGN TRAVELLERS FROM NIGERIA OVER OMICRON CONCERN.

The United Kingdom says Nigeria will be added to the countries on its red list as a result of the discovery of COVID Omicron cases linked to Nigeria. Sajid Javid, the UK health secretary, disclosed this on Saturday in a television interview. The South Africa National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) had,  on November 25 , announced the discovery of 22 positive cases of the new Omicron variant. Following the discovery, a number of countries banned travel from countries in southern Africa. The UK had also  placed a temporary ban  on air travel from six southern African countries — South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Zimbabwe — with immediate effect to prevent importation of the variant into Britain. Four Killed As Bandits Raid Katsina Villages At least four people have been killed, while some persons sustained injuries in an attack on Dugara, Daurawa and Gidan Gadi villages, all in Matazu local Government of Katsina state. The incident occurred at about 10pm on Friday, according to residents. Usman Ibrahim, a resident of Yarkirya village, said the bandits invaded the villages with dangerous weapons and destroyed several houses during the attacks. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday adjourned trial of detained leader of the outlawed Indegenious People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu till January 18, 2022.  Kanu’s case was originally scheduled to be heard next year, but the court granted an abridgement of time after a motion was filed by the Nigerian separatist leader. Justice Nyako had on November 10, 2021, adjourned the trial of Kanu till January 19 and 20, 2022, for trial. But the court granted an abridgement of time after a motion was filed in that respect and his matter was heard today (Thursday). Kanu was not present in court. More to follow…

Online application portal opens for 2021 police recruitment                                 Nigeria Police logo The Nigeria Police Force on Monday opened the online application portal for its 2021 recruitment exercise. This was announced in a statement signed by the Police Headquarters Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba. In the statement titled, ‘2021 recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force’, the force announced that successful applicants would be enlisted as Police Constables (recruits). The online application portal would be open for a period of six weeks starting from Monday, November 29, 2021 to Monday, January 10, 2021. Upon completion of the application, successful applicants would be invited for physical screening from January 10-24, 2021. Read statement below for more information:
